Air con not working
Vehicle Make Peugeot
Vehicle Model 406 LX
Vehicle Mileage 93000
Vehicle Age 2000
Fuel Type Diesel
Question:
The air con was working ok when I bought the car recently. The man who sold it to me said it was working ok just needed re-gassing. Unfortunately its still not working and a friend told me it could be the relay but I don't no where the relay is and this is the first car I've owned with air con. Please help?
Mechanical Help:
Your first problem with the air con is like you have been advised likely to be electrical. Check your fuses (F21 30Amp Green I believe) which is for the compressor cut-off relay, air conditioning compressor, pressostat, fan relay and heating/ventilation controls. If this is ok then its possible the compressor clutch is not kicking in due to another electrical fault like the relay or even a snapped drive compressor drive belt. Im afraid I have never worked on an aircon unit on a Peugeot and have tried to find where the relay is located with no success. A colleague di think it was behind the drivers side headlamp but couldn't be sure.  Your best bet would be to go to a Peugeot parts dealer and ask for a new relay as they wont be expensive and when they locate the part on their system it will show an exploded diagram of the car and the relay's location. Its likely to be in the drivers side fuse area or above the passenger side front wheel arch under the bonnet.
