| Question: |
My car is making a noise and I'd like to know
what's causing it!
My car started making a high pitched squeeling noise about 2 days ago, its coming from the
drivers side in the front. It started off being just an occasional noise but now it is
constant. My first thought was that it's the brakes, but I've never heard this sound before
so I just want to find out what it could be. |
| Mechanical Help: |
| Your problem is almost certainly a loose fan belt
due to either a worn belt or pulleys or simply the tensioning fixing point becoming loose. If
the pulleys slip against the belt it makes a very loud squealing noise as you described and
is usually a progressive problem again as you described. |
